Event Details

Interstate 55, circa 2023
One of the most popular Memphis bands to play the original Lafayette’s Music Room during the ’70s was Interstate 55, a band that found their way to Memphis from the Missouri Bootheel. They opened for national touring acts and played their own shows, as well as being captured on live recordings from the venue. Decades later the current version of the band, led by founding members Don Smith (bass/vocals) and Wendell Stanfill (drums/vocals), and joined by Danny Umfrees (guitar/vocals) from Jeffrey & the Pacemakers and John McMullan (keyboards/guitar/vocals) from Kennett, MO where he grew up with Sheryl Crow, will be returning to the Lafayette’s stage. They will be playing their favorites from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
